| The Ordovician Majiagou Formation limestone is widely distributed in the Jingxing area of western Hebei Province. Taking the Nanzhangjing limestone mining area as an example, this study investigates the geological characteristics, chemical composition, and physical mechanical properties of the limestone to assess its comprehensive utilization potential. Three main limestone types are identified: micrite, light leopard limestone, and heavy leopard limestone. Their average mass fractions of CaO, MgO, and SiO2 are 47.25%-52.12%, 1.84%-5.80%, and 2.03%-2.54%, respectively. The saturated compressive strength ranges are 41.5-98.3 MPa, 49.7-94.2 MPa, and 46.1-92.4 MPa for the three types, in the same order. The limestones exhibit a flat elongated particle mass fractions of 2%-3%, mud mass fractions of 0.1%-0.2%, soundness loss of 2%, sulfate and sulfide mass fractions near zero, crushing values of 9%-10%, and no potential alkali-reactivity. Both internal and external exposure indices are below 1. A comprehensive utilization model is proposed: micrite and light leopard limestone are suitable for metallurgical flux; heavy leopard limestone for building stone; intercalated argillaceous dolomite for road base material; and Quaternary overburden for reclamation and greening. This model promotes maximum resource use and economic benefit while minimizing waste, supporting green mining practices. The research offers valuable insights for the protection and sustainable development of mineral resources in the study area and similar regions. |
