Abstract:
Based on field investigation of the Morrua deposit and several typical deposits in the metallogenic belt of Mozambique, combined with existing geological data, the geological characteristics of the Morrua pegmatite-type rare metal deposit are summarized. The deposit is considered to have formed during the Pan-African orogeny and is controlled by magmatic rocks, structures, and strata. The ore bodies occur in LCT family (lithium-cesium-tantalum) granitic pegmatite, with amphibole schist as the surrounding rock. It is a high temperature hydrothermal granitic pegmatite-type rare metal deposit, hosting tantalum, lithium, cesium, and other rare metals. Nine major prospecting indicators of the Morrua deposit are systematically summarized. The granitic pegmatite veins containing spodumene, lepidolite, columbitetantalite, pollucite, and beryl, which are distributed along faults within the contact zone of the Pan-African granitic intrusion in the regional Ligonha tantalum-niobium rare metal metallogenic belt, serve as the direct prospecting indicators for ″Morrua style″ pegmatite-type rare metal deposits. Through comprehensive analysis of the geological characteristics and prospecting indicators, the genesis of the deposit is preliminarily discussed and a metallogenic model is constructed, providing a reference for further exploration in the mining area and its surroundings.
